The New Apple iPad (or iPad 3 or iPad third generation), will be available for sale in South Korea and 11 other territories in South America, Europe and Asia, Apple has announced today.
On the 27th of April, the new iPad will go on sale in nine other countries. The tablet was unveiled on the 7th of March and went on sale in the US and nine other countries on the 16th of ,March, one month ago.
The tablet, which replaces the iPad 2, comes with a new Retina display with a 2,048 by 1,536 pixels resolution, a five megapixel rear camera, a new Apple A5X processor with a quad core graphics subsystem, full HD video capabilities, 10 hours battery life plus 4G LTE networking connectivity and the new iOS 5.1.
Apple will continue to sell the iPad 2 whose price falls to $399 in the US (£329 in the UK). The tablet is arguably going to be a best seller with sales likely to be in the tens of millions.
iPad 2 rivals have seen their prices tumble over the last few months. The RIM BlackBerry PlayBook tablet now costs under £170 while the Motorola XOOM, the Toshiba Thrive and the HTC Flyer all sell for around £250.
