Nokia 808 Pureview Goes On Preorder For £465, Shipping On 23rd of April

The Nokia 808 Pureview has been put on preorder by Unlocked Mobiles for only £465 The smartphone, which has a massive 41-megapixel sensor and Carl Zeiss Optics, is expected to go on sale on the 23rd of April.

Oddly enough, Nokia chose to use Symbian Belle OS rather than Windows Phone (although a Windows Phone Pureview model is expected) and the rest of the specification is what you'd expect from a four year old smartphone.

The 4in screen has a resolution of 640 by 360 pixels, 178 times less than the pixel count of the camera, the processor is a 1.3GHz single core one based on ARM11 (the Broadcom BCM2763).

That's older than the Cortex-A8 which is a puzzling decision altogether.

Other specs include 512MB RAM, Corning Gorilla glass with Nokia ClearBlack, a microSD card slot, 16GB onboard storage, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, Nokia Maps, up to 11 hours talk time, a front facing camera and full HD video recording.

The big sensor and accompanying electronics is one of the reasons why the smartphone weighs a hefty 169g and is 14mm thick.
