Angry Birds Downloaded 50 Million Times

Angry Birds Space, the latest sequel in the ridiculously successful avian catapulting mini-game series has hit 50 million downloads in just over a month since its release, making it the fastest-selling mobile game ever.

Rovio already held many of the on-the-move gaming records with its previous iterations of Angry Birds, but this latest one topped them all.

Speaking about it on the developer's blog (opens in new tab), it stated: "This has been simply amazing, and the whole Rovio team is thrilled to see such a fantastic reception for the game. We extend our deepest gratitude to all fans of Angry Birds everywhere. While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that everybody can enjoy!"

To help keep players interested in the game, Rovio recently released a free update - take note paid-for DLC touting companies - as well as announcing many future surprises for the game.

Angry Birds Space is available on iOS and Android Devices, as well as Mac and PC platforms, for just 69p. This will seem like a great deal to most, except those that have been playing free flash games on their PCs for years - especially those that have played games (opens in new tab) almost identical to angry birds.
