App Developers Don’t Make Enough Money To Break Even, Reveals Survey

App Promo, a firm aimied at helping app developers earn more money from their work, has just published the results of their first Annual Developer Survey. The study promises to unveil the truth behind a successful app business.

The survey was conducted online between 6 April and 22 April, with the company encouraging app developers using iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows and Symbian for their responses.

Apparently, the reality is somewhat gloomy, as 80 per cent of developers admitted they don't earn enough money from building apps to support an independent business. Almost 60 per cent of the app developers who submitted their answers have confessed they don't generate enough revenue to cover the app development costs.

However, the developers are not willing to spend any more money or time to promote their apps. Fifty-two per cent of the respondents who took part in the survey said they don't have any marketing budget, and that they spend less than five per cent of their time for app promotion.
