A YouTube video has appeared purporting to be from a member of the hacktivist movement Anonymous, claiming that the group now has knowledge of the Illuminati and aliens that have apparently been here since the early parts of the 20th century.
The video however, has already led many to believe that it's a hoax. The first clue that tipped off the internet denizens, was that the Anonymous spokesperson in the video said that the details would be revealed once the video had "gone viral". This is something that a traditional hacktivist wouldn't be interested in. The information would be laid bare and then distributed based on the importance of what was revealed.
One of the official/unofficial Twitter accounts for the movement has also lampooned the video, stating in a tweet:
"Still waiting for whichever Anon claiming to have info on UFOs/aliens to drop it live. We're just dying to know if ET made it back home."
Some might call this just another radical jumping on the Anonymous bandwagon, the poster of the video hoping to increase their subscriber numbers on YouTube. Others might point to this as further disintegration of the Anonymous name.
Over the past six months, with the reveal of Sabu's turncoat antics and the Anon-OS turning out to be a fake, Anonymous seems to be struggling a little more to find its focus. Fortunately there are people like Peter Fein to keep things organised.
