The jailbreak community has even more reason to be thrilled, with notorious hacker/developer Pod2g announcing that he has managed to jailbreak the new iPad on iOS 5.1.
In order to prove the successful untethered jailbreak of the third generation iPad, he posted his efforts on YouTube. Previously, Pod2g announced an untethered jailbreak for his iPhone 4, also running on iOS 5.1.
He also stated that he had found two exploits in iOS 5.1 which will allow him to release a public jailbreak soon. News of his success lets the community hoping that the public distribution of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is fast approaching.
Pod2g promises to deliver a version for all devices running on iOS 5.1, including the iPhone 4S. The challenge is to adapt the jailbreak to different hardware, powered by various types of processors.
The release is several weeks away, predicts tech writers. While jailbreak developers are working on iOS 5.1, Apple has released iOS 5.1.1m which raises another set of challenges.
The latest iOS version has a fast adoption rate and the Dev Chronic teams are working to crack it as soon as possible. At least, before Apple releases the rumoured iOS 6.
