Adobe has made its cloud-based Creative Cloud service available in the UK on a subscription-basis. The company describes it as being a "hub for making, sharing and delivering creative work, one that revolves around Adobe Creative Suite 6.
The latter includes Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Flash Professional and more, all of which can be downloaded and installed; Creative Cloud adds Adobe Muse and Edge plus provides with file storage, sharing and web hosting in a convenient one stop shop.
The service, which has been rolled out in 26 countries costs as little as £38.11 on a yearly subscription and £57.17 when taken on a month-to-month membership. Another introductory offer (£22.23) will encourage users of Adobe products as old as CS3 to upgrade to CS6. Note that prices exclude VAT.
Adobe has also announced Adobe Proto and Adobe Collage, two new Touch apps which will join Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas both available for touch-based devices.
The company's decision to embrace a subscription-based solution is a smart move since it allows users to spread the costs of acquiring the software over a few years which reduces piracy while preventing them from actually owning them.
