Nokia today revealed two new mobile phones focusing on easy social media interaction, designed to appeal to young, urban consumers. With the estimated retail price of the Nokia 110 hitting a modest £28 and the Nokia 112 marginally more at £30, the company is looking to offer inexpensive devices that provide smooth Facebook and Twitter interaction.
Both phones offer direct access to the social media favourites from their home screens, while technology behind the Nokia Browser allows users to consume up to 90 per cent less data by compressing websites in the cloud. Thousands of apps are available to download from the Nokia Store while the 112 features the eBuddy instant messaging service preloaded.
"Today's mobile phone users want a quick internet experience that allows them to discover great content and share it with their friends, but without being held back by high data costs", said Mary T. McDowell, Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones, Nokia. "The new Nokia 110 and Nokia 112 devices combine browsing, social media, apps, world-class entertainment and long battery life to create a great package for young, urban consumers who want to do it all."
The phones sport an improved VGA camera with support for up to 32GB of external memory via a microSD card slot - that's enough for more than 6000 songs or 90,000 pictures. In the coming months, 40 free Games from EA will also be made available, including well known titles like Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed: The Run and SimCity Deluxe.
The Nokia 110 and 112 are both Dual SIM phones, featuring the benefits of Nokia's Easy Swap technology. This enables users to switch between SIMs quickly without having to remove the battery or even turn off the phone. The Easy Swap technology can personalise and remember up to five different SIM cards, giving consumers full control over their costs.
