LG has announced a new user interface for its latest devices running Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich' 4.0. The UI, named 'Optimus 3.0', has an array of new features and functions for consumers to enjoy on their LG ICS handsets.
"With smartphone hardware becoming more and more similar, it's important for manufacturers to differentiate their products from the competition through the user interface", highlighted Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"Both carriers and customers tell us that they want LG phones to look and feel unique and the UI plays a big part in that. LG is really going to push the boundaries of what is possible in user interfaces starting with Optimus UI 3.0."
Optimus 3.0 features a new memo function: 'Quick Memo', which allows users to create notes on the screen, by using their finger. The new memo ability also enables sharing through social networks, text messaging and e-mails.
Users can now unlock their devices by swiping anywhere on the screen and can assign a new pattern lock, which automatically opens the most frequently used app on unlocking.
The camera application has also been updated, where consumers can now take photos using voice commands.
Optimus 3.0 will debut first on the LG Optimus LTE II, launching in Korea.
