Telefónica has launched a European wide mobile data plan, to deal with post holiday bill shock. The mobile carrier has announced its first data plan for holidaymakers, which gives smartphone users 25MB of high-speed mobile data - for just 2 euros, or £1.99, for UK O2 customers.
The deal will be available to customers on Movistar and O2 networks, relieving the worry over how much accessing emails and updating social networking sites will cost when abroad. Users will be able to use the plan across all 27 European Union states.
"You no longer need to switch off your smartphones when travelling within the EU, and neither do you need to worry about bill shock when you get home", claims José María Álvarez-Pallete, Chairman and CEO of Telefónica Europe.
"Our European data tariff gives our smartphone customers great value while allowing them to do what really matters - to stay connected wherever they are in a simple and transparent way and with complete peace of mind."
The new tariff comes well below the new price caps introduced by the European Union. The new legislation rules that from the 1st of July, 1MB of data should cost no more than 70 cents, or €17.50 for 25MB.
