RIM BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Now Available For £129

If you don't mind buying a refurbished tablet, then you could consider the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook from, a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, which is on sale for a mere £129 at the time of writing. (ed : none left now unfortunately)

The device comes with a full one year warranty although it is likely to be shipped in a brown box with only a cable rather than the full set of accessories and guides.

Given the fact that its SRP is £169 and that it was originally on sale for £399, this is actually a pretty decent price and compares very well with some cheaper no-name Android tablets currently available on the market.

The tablet comes with a dual core TI OMAP4430 processor clocked at 1GHz, 1GB RAM, a five-megapixel rear camera, a two-megapixel front facing one, HD video capabilities, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB & HDMI ports, 16GB onboard storage, a 7inch 1,024 x 600 pixels display and runs on BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.

A new firmware update solves some of the issues that originally plagued the tablet at launch - like the lack of an email client - but it fails to tackle perhaps the most important issue of all, the lack of popular applications.
