HTC's newest handset, the entry level Desire C, has gone on preorder at BuyMobilePhones.net on O2 for a mere £10.38 per month (£13.50 on a two year contract with an automatic £75 cash back); that's a total cost of ownership of just under £250 (compared to £190 on PAYG).
The device, which is expected to be released on the 28th of May, is essentially the follow up to the HTC Wildfire S. It comes with a 600MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225A processor, a 3.5in HVGA capacitive display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Beats Audio technology, a five-megapixel camera with flash (but no front facing cameras), 512MB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, Wi-Fi and a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 plus 25GB free Dropbox storage.
The contract (O2 50 Internet Basics) includes 50 minutes, unlimited texts, 100MB data allowance and priority moments. The Desire C is the first handset (and device) to launch with Android 4.0 ICS and may pave the way for even more. Crucially, it gives existing Desire owners a glimpse of hope as to a future ICS roll out.
