The third quad core smartphone to go on sale has appeared at Play.com; the LG Optimus 4X costs £440, a £50 discount off its suggested retail price £490. The device is expected to be released on the 4th of July.

The device, which was released back in February at the Mobile World Congress, comes with a 4.7in IPS LCD display with a 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution, a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, an eight megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel front facing one and a 2,150mAh battery.

Other features includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 8.9mm thick casing, a microUSB port, HDMI out, NFC, DLNA, full HD video recording, a microSD card slot and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The phone is essentially positioned as a rival to the HTC One X which costs less and comes with 32GB onboard storage and 25GB cloud storage for two years at Dropbox, and the Samsung Galaxy S3, which comes with a number of Samsung-only features like S Voice or S Beam.
