Finnish video game developer Rovio has announced that Angry Birds Space, the latest iteration of its flagship game, has been downloaded more than 100 million times in just 76 days.
The Espoo-based company boasted the impressive figure through a tweet on the game's official account, along with a jubilant image commemorating the milestone.
After Angry Birds Space's original release on 22 March, the game was downloaded 10 million times in three days and 20 million times by the end of the first week.
In total, the Angry Birds franchise has sold more than one billion copies, including its original version and follow-up titles like Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. Half a billion of those downloads were in the past six months.
Rovio will be releasing Angry Birds Heikki, which will see our beloved birds taking on a racing environment, later this month.
The game's incredible popularity was recently taken advantage of by hackers, who prompted users to download a fake version of Angry Birds in order to then run a premium-paid phone scam.
