The HTC Sensation XL has now been superseded by the One X but it still remains a very capable handset, one that can bow be purchased from Purelygadgets from as little as £349, around £100 less than the One X.
The device comes with a customised pair of Beats headset, a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 768MB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage (but no microSD card slot), a 4.7in 800 x 480 pixels display, an 8-megapixel camera with a F2.2 lens and 720p HD video recording, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, a 1600mAh battery and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
At 163g, it is on the heavier side of the spectrum but the weight is evenly spread across the handset's body and at 10mm, the phone - which is unlocked and unbranded - is still quit thin.
How good is the XL? Well, if you're an audiophile, looking for an Android phone and need a decent pair of headsets, then the Sensation XL is a no brainer. However, Nokia also has a similar deal for the Lumia 800 but on Windows Phone.
If you don't need a big screen or a headset, then the Sony Mobile Xperia U, at around half the price or the similar-priced Xperia S with a 12-megapixel camera and a HD ready screen, are decent competitors.
