Lenovo flogs M71e ThinkCentre workstation for £229

Lenovo is selling the M71e ThinkCentre workstation for £229 via its outlet, a nearly 60 per cent discount. This is a new, not refurbished, model and comes with one year carry in warranty.

Its most notable feature is that it comes with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit which easily costs half the price of the computer on its own.

The rest of the specification makes it a very decent all rounder desktop computer. It is powered by a dual core i3-2120 processor clocked at 3.3GHz with 3MB L3 cache, 4GB of PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz memory, a 250GB 7200RPM hard disk drive, a DVD writer, Intel GMA HD graphics module, GbE, a keyboard and a mouse, six USB ports and a superbly designed well ventilated tower casing.

There's no monitor with the M71e, which should be fine if you're planning to upgrade your existing computer. That said, a similarly configured laptop probably not cost a lot more than a monitor/desktop bundle. The only advantages the desktop combo would still have would be (a) the screen resolution/size (b) expansion options.
