Samsung Galaxy Note on sale for £369

Asda has put the Samsung Galaxy Note, which was launched late last year, on sale for £369. The phone is unlocked and unbranded and delivered free to stores. Note that the price is only valid for the white version, with the black one costing £10 more.

The Galaxy Note caused heads to turn at launch because it had the biggest screen of all the smartphones on the market. It was also the first to come out with (a) a capacitive digitising stylus called the S-Pen (b) a 1,280 x 720 pixels Super AMOLED screen.

Other features included a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with an Ice Cream Sandwich update imminent, an 8-megapixel camera, a S Memo app, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

It has a massive talktime, of more than 13.5 hours thanks partly to its big battery, the biggest of all the current smartphones. That doesn't mean that it is massive though. At 9.7mm, it is only marginally thicker than the iPhone 4S.

The Galaxy Note has now been superseded by the Galaxy S3 and Samsung may well be preparing to launch a Galaxy Note 2, with marginally better specifications.
