Intempo Google-based TV goes on sale for £50

If you want a device that can hook up your TV to the internet, then the Intempo Evolve could be a very decent candidate. The device is on sale from Ebay's Ocean Tree Trading for only £50 including delivery.

The Evolve is essentially a tablet without a screen. It features a 1.2GHz processor (probably an AllWinner Cortex-A8 model), 512MB of DDR3 memory, 4GB built in flash memory, a SD card slot that can accommodate up to 32GB cards, HDMI output up to 1080p, three USB ports, a LAN port, Wi-Fi and runs Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread. We see no reason why it cannot be upgraded to ICS.

It also comes with a rather smart remote control touchpad with a built in keyboard that allows you to email or search from the comfort of your couch.

The Evolve automatically checks for firmware updates, uses the AppsLib store (rather than Google's own Play), includes access to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, various video on demand providers (but not Netflix) and much more.
