16GB Google Nexus 7 tablet sold out in US & UK

The 16GB version of the Google Nexus 7 tablet has been sold out on Google's own Play Store, both here and in the US, with retailers like Ebuyer taking preorders for the tablet, indicating that the it's selling rather well.

In the US, GameStop, Staples, and Sam's Club sold out of the Nexus 7 within the first 24 hours of widespread availability while over here, Ebuyer has put 500 units on preorder with an estimated delivery date of 10 August.

Google has sent emails to UK & US Play Store users informing them that the device will be "coming soon". The cheaper version of the tablet, an 8GB model, is still available on pre-order and is available for shipment within at least 72 hours. Tesco has already sold out of the Nexus 7.

The device is still available at Currys, Dixons, Very, Carphone Warehouse, and PC World, as well as on preorder at HMV, Ebuyer and Argos with delivery dates of 26 July, 10 August and 30 July respectively. Amazon has yet to list the Nexus 7 for sale.
