Price of LG 2012-series 50in plasma TV drops to £410

Online retailer Ebuyer has cut the price of the LG 50PA4500 plasma TV to £410. This is a 2012 model which comes with a very slim bezel that Samsung says provides a more immersive visual experience.

Other features include 600Hz technology that "provides zero motion blur and a razor sharp response time", LG's Intelligent Sensor which "automatically finds the optimal brightness, sharpness, colour and contrast picture settings", a resolution upscaler that "fills in the gaps in poor quality [video] content", something that unfortunately falls short of our expectations.

The LG 50PA4500's 50in panel has a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels, which makes us wonder how the resolution upscaler feature will work in real life. Other specifications include a contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1, 16-bit colour reproduction, Triple XD Engine technology, a 3D digital comb filter, two HDMI ports, two 10W speakers, Dolby Digital Decoder, SCART, AV in, two HDMI ports, D-Sub, PC audio input, component in, a USB 2.0 port, and a Freeview tuner.

Although the LG 50PA4500 has one of the sexiest designs we've seen on a budget television, the fact that it has an XGA resolution is disappointing.
