Samsung Wireless DVD Drive drops to £65

Ebuyer is offering the Samsung Optical SmartHub Wireless DVD Drive, the SE-208BW for as little as £65 including free delivery.

The device, which was unveiled last September, has received mixed reviews (from Engadget and Cnet for example) which might explain why its price has fallen so abruptly.

The SE-208BW is an external DVD writer drive that enables wireless streaming to iOS and Android devices as well as being a NAS controller and offering Smart backup functionality.

Up to four different devices can be connected to it simultaneously via Wi-Fi from around 16m away and you can access both the optical disk in it and any externally connected storage.

However, it doesn’t come with a power pack/battery and its installation can be a nightmare for novices because, according to Laptopmag, it comes with poor documentation, a confusing installer and the supplied driver DVD cannot, apparently, be run on the device's own drive.

But in theory, the drive is a decent product for those who do not currently have a dedicated wireless storage device, a network-attached storage drive or a router with a USB port.
