The Archos 101 G9 tablet, a 10.1in device that was launched last year, can now be had for as little as £162 from online retailer Stuff-UK.
The tablet is equipped with a dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 10.1in display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a front-facing HD ready camera with HD recording capabilities, GPS, a microSD card slot, a mini HDMI port, two USB ones, Wi-Fi, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a weight of just under 650g.
Users can stick an Archos 3G stick, which is basically an own-brand 3G dongle, into a port at the back of the tablet to make it 3G ready.
As far as specs are concerned, the Archos 101 G9 beats the iPad 2 hands down. It is faster, costs half the price, can potentially bump its storage capacity to 40GB for a mere £8, comes with twice the RAM, a bigger screen, a higher resolution and the ability to transform into a 3G device for not that much.
Archos will release some new products soon and we have been invited to attend an event on 21 August where we expect a number of new devices to be unveiled.
