Images leak of redesigned Skype on Windows 8

Windows 8 fever cranked up a notch yesterday. As Microsoft released the platform RTM to developers, potential suitors flocked to our hands-on analysis of the smart new OS.

Those counting the days until the 26 October Windows 8 launch date have been thrown another titbit today as screenshots of instant messaging service Skype running on the platform have been leaked.

Neowin claims to have had a play with the redesigned UI and has published some intriguing images of the Windows 8-friendly iteration of the service. The preview is described as “fluid” and “fast”, with the Skype team praised for making it “finger friendly”.

You’d probably venture to say the images show a fittingly metro-style interface, but Microsoft has done away with that old moniker, so we’ll just have to do as they tell us and appreciate the ‘Modern UI’ on show.
