DSGi-owned retailer Currys is selling a refurbished Core i3-based laptop for only £249. The processor is, surprisingly enough, a second generation Sandy Bridge one.
There is 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive and an Intel HD3000 graphic subsystem. Other features include a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 HP LED Brightview display, a DVD writer, Wi-Fi, Windows 7 Home Premium, a webcam, three USB ports, a card reader, an Ethernet port, VGA out/HDMI out, 5-hour battery life (thanks to a 6-cell battery), an array of bundled software (including HP’s own ones) and Altec Lansing speakers.
Note that you will also get a reward pack (until 12 September) worth £200 that includes an £80 data transfer and computer healthcheck from Knowhow, £70 worth of Entertainment, Apps and music and a £50 voucher redeemable when you spend £200 in store.
Also note that the laptop is only available for home delivery and can’t be reserved for in-store collection. As it stands, this Pavilion G6 is probably the best value for money laptop under £250 in the UK and certainly beats any Intel Atom or AMD-based systems under £300. Be quick though...
