Acer’s new phone has better configuration than Samsung Galaxy S, costs £149

Online retailer Expansys has put the Acer Liquid Gallant Duo smartphone on preorder for £149, including delivery, with stock expected towards the end of the month.

This smartphone comes with a number of interesting features that make it just as enticing as the Huawei Ascend G300.

Other than the fact that it comes with two SIM card slots, has a massive 4.3in qHD touchscreen and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the handset also has a massive 1GB of RAM and 4GB onboard storage (with an additional microSD card slot).

Interestingly, the Liquid Gallant Duo has a single-core Cortex-A9-based Mediatek MTK 6575 processor clocked at 1GHz. To our knowledge, it is the first time that a mainstream handset is on sale in the UK with this chip and specification.

Other features include GPS, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 1,500mAh battery, Bluetooth 3.0. Wi-Fi, a micro-USB port and quad-band support. All in all, the handset is probably the best value for money handset on the market.

The Huawei Ascend G300 is cheaper but doesn’t come with ICS and has less onboard memory. Ditto for the smaller Sony Xperia U, although the latter comes with a dual-core processor.
