An iPad clone for the kids? 10in tablet goes on sale for under £50

The Elonex eTouch 10in tablet can be had from consumerelectricals, an eBay power seller, for as little as £49.99 including free delivery. It is the cheapest large screen tablet – albeit a refurbished one - on the market that comes with a full year guarantee.

The ET1000 as it is known comes with Android 2.2 Froyo with full access to Google Play and its hundreds of thousands of applications.

Its main selling point is that big 10.1in resistive screen that can display 1,024 x 600 pixels and provides enough real estate to display a decent virtual QWERTY keyboard.

The tablet is powered by an ARM11-based LNX Code 11 system on chip clocked at 1GHz. There’s also 256MB of RAM, 2GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot that can take a 10.1in display, Wi-Fi, a 2100mAh battery that provides a 3-hour battery life, USB 2.0 and mini USB port.

At 16mm thick and 695g, it is a fairly heavy slab with a bigger than average bezel. But it is still a cracking deal given that you’d expect a tablet with a smaller screen and a lower resolution at this price.
