Iomega 2TB Home Media Network drive goes on sale for £80

PC World has put the 2TB version of the IOMEGA Home Media Network Cloud Edition hard drive for a mere £80 (with an instore price of £150) with the first devices expected to be shipped on 7 September.

Oddly enough, the 1TB version costs £110 which leaves us to believe that it could well be a misprice. You won't be able to add another hard drive for redundancy but interestingly enough, you can sync it with Amazon S3 or Mozy for backup.

The product comes with a Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports and is compatible with a slew of operating systems including Linux.

What’s more, it comes with IOMEGA’s personal cloud technology which lets the owner securely share data over the Internet, allowing remote collaboration, syncing, archiving, remote backup and more.

Going beyond being a mere external hard drive, It also offers a built-in UPnP DLNA-certified AV media server as well as an iTunes server.

Note that you won’t be able to access the drive simply by connecting a USB cable. You will need to go through a switch or a router. You can however connect either a peripheral or another storage device to it via USB.
