Sony Xperia U with free Google Nexus 7 tablet available on £20.50 contracts is offering a rather interesting smartphone/tablet bundle consisting of the Sony Xperia U and the Google Nexus 7 tablet for as little as £20.50 per month on Orange with a two-year contract.

You get 100 minutes, 500MB data and unlimited text on the Panther contract plus Orange Wednesdays and the ability to get affordable landline broadband packages.

The Xperia U is the cheapest dual-core smartphone on the market and the one with the smallest screen size as well. It features an ST-Ericsson system-on-chip clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, a 3.5in 854 x 540 resolution display, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities and a fancy LED illuminated strip. The smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread but will offer Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future.

As for the tablet, it has a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 system-on-chip clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (according to the description on, a 7in 1,280 x 800 pixels display and a rear camera.

Buying the tablet and the smartphone on their own would cost £340, which means that the cost of the SIM-only contract stands at £152 or around £6.33 per month.
