NEC Casio Mobile to produce world’s thinnest & lightest 7in tablet

NTT Docomo will sell a new tablet from NEC Casio Mobile communications called the Medias Tab ULN-08D which is hailed as the world’s thinnest 7in tablet at 7.9mm and also the lightest at 249g.

The tablet, which will launch imminently, runs on NTT Docomo’s Xi LTE service and is also compatible with its One-Seg terrestrial broadcasting service.

Other features include that 7in 1,280 x 800 display, a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 system-on-chip clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, a rear 8.1-megapixel camera and a front 2-megapixel one and Android 4.0.

The ULN-08D sports a white finish that's reminiscent of the early Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones,

NTT Docomo’s press release also mentions haptic vibration capabilities which promises an “extra-tactile” touchscreen. There are no details as to whether the tablet will go on sale outside Japan or how much it will cost.
