Talkmobile is offering (via Carphone Warehouse) the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone for as little as £12.50 on a two year contract. That’s a total cost of ownership of only £300, hardly more than the phone on PAYG.
You get 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB of data which is a decent, mid-size offering and one which is significantly better than the rest of the competition.
The phone, which was launched nearly one year ago, is still a solid handset but won’t receive the soon-to-be-launched Windows Phone 8 upgrade.
It comes with a single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip clocked at 1.4GHz with 512MB of RAM, a 3.7in 800 x 480 display with ClearBlack technology, a polycarbonate one-piece body, Windows Phone 7.5, Microsoft Office, GPS, Nokia Drive, an 8-megapixel camera with HD recording and 16GB onboard storage.
The two other entry level Widows Phone 7.5 smartphones from Nokia, the Lumia 610 and the Lumia 710, are available from £79 and £99 respectively, a significant drop from their suggested retail prices, a possible hint that the Finnish manufacturer will release one or more entry level smartphones tomorrow.
