£500 buys you an Acer Aspire 5755G gaming laptop

UK retailer Save on Laptops is flogging the Acer Aspire 5755G, a powerful gaming laptop, for just £500 including free delivery.

It features an impressive list of hardware, though there are also corners which have been cut. It carries an Intel Core i7 processor - the i7-2670QM. It is also a quad-core Sandy-Bridge based model clocked at 2.2GHz with 6MB L3 cache and capable of overclocking to 3.1GHz.

There’s also 6GB DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive, an Nvidia Geforce GT630M graphics solution with 1GB dedicated memory, a DVD writer, a 15.6in display with Acer’s CineCrystal technology and a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a webcam, a card reader, Wi-Fi, GbE, a HDMI port, Windows 7 Home Premium, two USB 2.0 ports and a USB 3.0 port and up to 4.5 hours battery life.

Other details include a multi-gesture touchpad, a keyboard with island-style keys, Dolby Advanced audio, a wealth of Acer applications and trialware, plus a one year licence to BullGuard security software.

Note that you can get a three year collect and return warranty from Acer for a mere £50, and an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for only £15.
