The cheapest iPhone 5 Alternative yet: LG Optimus 4X down to £300

Online retailer Expansys has cut the price of the Optimus 4X smartphone, otherwise known as the P880, to only £300 - that's a 33 per cent discount off its suggested retail price and a massive 43 per cent less than the newly launched Apple iPhone 5.

The device is unlocked/un-branded and comes with an EU plug and a UK AC adaptor. Other features include an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core system-on-chip clocked at 1.5GHz, with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 4.7in 1,280 x 720 pixels display, an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and full HD video recording, a 1.3-megapixel front facing one, a massive 2,150mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Note that, unlike its rivals, the phone uses a regular SIM card rather than a microSD. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a proprietary user interface.

At 133g and measuring only 8.9mm, it is on par with other handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. It is likely that the phone is being cleared out ahead of the launch of a new flagship Optimus smartphone.
