The Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet can be had from as little as £199, almost half its introductory price. We suspect that this is partly due to the launch of the Google Nexus 7 a few months ago. The device is available from Tesco’s eBay outlet and is a refurbished model that comes with a one-year warranty.
The tablet is still a pretty capable model running on a dual-core system-on-chip, the Nvidia Tegra 2. This version is clocked at 1GHz and comes with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front facing one.
There’s also a 10.1in 1,280 x 800 pixels display with a layer of Gorilla Glass, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and it runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb with an Ice Cream Sandwich update already available.
The Eee Pad Transformer can also be transformed into a cracking little ultra-portable laptop thanks to a keyboard docking station that not only almost doubles its battery life but also adds other nifty features.
The tablet has since been superseded by the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and its derivatives. Check out our review of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer.
