Acer Aspire V5 thin and light laptop price-crunched to £300

The Acer Aspire V5 has been reduced from £350 to £300 by Ebuyer (a price that includes delivery). It is one of the new thin and light models introduced by the Taiwanese company that is slimmer (by up to 30 per cent) and lighter (by up to 10 per cent) than traditional models.

It packs an Intel Pentium 967 processor, one which is clocked at 1.3GHz with Intel Smart Cache and 2MB L3 cache. There’s also a 320GB hard disk drive, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a DVD writer, a 15.6in Acer CineCrystal TFT LCD with a 1,366 x 768 display, a HD webcam, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Dolby Advanced Audio v2 technology, a numeric keypad, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GbE port, a card reader, VGA, three USB ports, HDMI and a one year international travellers warranty.

It runs on Windows 7 Home Premium and includes a number of applications like Office Starter 2010, Kobo and Nook for PC, Norton Online Backup, Evernote and Acer’s suite of applications (Backup Manager, ePower Management and eRecovery Management).

At 2.3kg and with a thickness of 23mm, the Aspire V5 is only marginally heavier and bulkier than an Ultrabook but will fit the bill for someone looking for an affordable lean machine.
