Currys is offering the Acer Aspire V5-171 for as little as £332.50. This is a great price for a laptop that looks like an Ultrabook and shares a lot of common features with one.
Note that you need to get to the Dixons’ product page for the Acer Aspire V-171 first, click on the small banner that promises five per cent off the price of the item and then go to the check out in order to get the offer.
The laptop is powered by the same CPU that equips a lot of entry level Ultrabooks, the Intel Core i3-2367M. This dual-core, Sandy Bridge-based processor runs at 1.4GHz and has an Intel HD 3000 Graphics unit.
There’s also 4GB of RAM, an 11.1in Acer CineCrystal LED backlit screen (with a 1,366 x 768 resolution), a 320GB hard drive, a HD webcam, three USB ports, a card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, GbE, a HDMI port (but no VGA), a 2,500mAh battery (with five hours of battery life), one year international travellers warranty and Windows 7 Home Premium.
At 21mm thick and weighing just under 1.4kg, the Acer Aspire V5-717 is an affordable thin and light Ultrabook alternative. The only thing missing at this price is the lack of SSD.
