Last week’s Apps World Europe event, the third ever, was the biggest app ecosystem-centric conference of its kind in Europe, said event organiser Six Degrees
The conference and exhibition village attracted 6,000 attendees, 170 exhibitors and more than 250 speakers to London’s Earls Court, making it roughly double the size of last year’s Apps World. The two-day event brought together experts from different app- and app development-themed sectors, including enterprise mobility, NFC and mobile payments, and game app development, with dozens of topical lectures and panel discussions delving into different aspects of the app ecosystem.
Apps World highlighted the extent to which apps and app development will play a central role in the future of mobile computing. As smartphones and tablets become more powerful (and popular), the app ecosystem will prove to be an increasingly important piece of the tech puzzle.
“We’re very happy with how [last] week’s show has gone. The growth we’ve seen around Apps World this year is a clear indication of how rapidly the apps industry is developing in general. Following the success of this show, we’re confident we’ll be able to deliver a bigger and better experience again for 2013,” said Apps World founder Ian Johnson.
This year’s event was accompanied by the first annual Appsters Awards, which celebrated excellence in the apps industry, awarding apps and developers in 12 categories including Best entertainment app, Best use of geo-location, and App Developer 2012.
The next Apps World will be the North American version of the conference, which will take place in San Francisco on 5 - 6 February of next year. Visit the event’s official site for more details about attending and participating.
