Price of Archos 101 G9 tablet slashed to £115

If you’re looking for a speedy dual core tablet with a big screen, check the Archos 101 G9 from Tesco Direct which is available for only £115 (with free delivery to Tesco stores), after a £10 discount (use TD-MXTN at checkout).

The tablet runs on a dual-core TI OMAP4430 system-on-chip clocked at 1GHz and with a PowerVR SGX540GPU. It comes with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, with an upgrade path to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Other features include 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot, a 10.1in 1,280 x 800 display, Wi-Fi, a front-facing camera, HDMI, a kickstand and a USB port.

Available for a third of the price of the Apple iPad, this tablet has already been superseded by newer models from the French tablet manufacturer, and it is highly likely that the 101 G9 is being cleared out.

The new flagship model from Archos is the 101XS, which still comes with a dual-core SoC from TI but, interestingly enough, has a keyboard that also serves as a cover (called the Coverboard) and is attached to the tablet via magnets. It costs only £299, less than the iPad 2.
