Asus is selling a refurbished K50IJ Notebook with a one year warranty for only £199, via its outlet. The K50IJ might no longer be a mainstream laptop but it still has plenty of oomph compared to an Intel Atom or an AMD Fusion laptop.
It comes with an Intel Pentium T3500 dual core CPU with an Intel GL40 Express chipset, Windows 7 Premium, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, Intel GMA X4500M graphics solution, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 display, Wi-Fi, a card reader, a DVD writer, a numeric keypad, four USB ports, VGA, an Ethernet port, but sadly no HDMI one.
There’s also a webcam, a six battery cell, Altec Lansing speakers and SRS premium sound and an array of Asus applications like Asus Splendid, Asus SmartLogon, Asus CopyProtech and Super Hybrid Engine.
The latter is basically a utility that dynamically changes the speed of the CPU to save battery. Asus has also incorporated the IceCool design that helps keep the palm rest area at temperatures cooler than that of the human body.
For its price (which excludes delivery), the K50IJ is a cracking piece of technology, and one that very easily surpasses other laptops within the price range.
