Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini UK launch date announced

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (opens in new tab) will go on sale in the UK on 2 November according to an updated product page from, which lists it with a suggested retail price of £295.

The device was announced last week and, as we discussed previously (opens in new tab), is closer to the Galaxy S Advance than the Galaxy S3 when it comes to specifications.

The Galaxy S3 Mini has a dual-core system-on-chip (an ST-Ericsson U8500 clocked at 1GHz), with 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 4in 800 x 480 AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing one, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a microSD card slot and NFC capability as well.

(opens in new tab)Oddly enough, it is thicker than its bigger brother, the Galaxy S3, but weighs less, at 115g. Just like the latter, it also supports the S Beam, Smart Stay, Direct Call and S Voice features.

Vodafone, Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse have already announced that they will be taking pre-orders for the phone.

At nearly £300, though, the smartphone is rather expensive, bearing in mind that the Galaxy S3 itself costs around £370, while the LG Optimus 4X HD sells for less than £300.
