Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook down to £470

The new Aspire S3 is not part of that new breed of ultrabooks aiming to conquer the sub £500 market with a lower price that’s matched by a slightly lower configuration. It actually went on sale in June for a whopping £950 and its price has been more than halved since then.

Indeed, Acer somehow managed to keep the same level of hardware that you’d find on more expensive Ultrabooks and at £469.91 at PC World, the S3-391 is possibly the best value ultrabook on the market especially if you factor in the ability to claim a £150 cashback when you trade in an old working laptop that’s less than six years old.

The Ultrabook comes with an Intel Core i5-3317U Ivy-bridge based processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 3MB L3 cache and an Intel HD 4000 graphics subsystem.

There’s also 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, a 13.3in Acer CineCrystal LED backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel, Windows 7 Home Premium (with an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, provided free by Acer until next year albeit one involving a rather cumbersome process), Wi-Fi, two USB 3.0 ports, a card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, a HD webcam, up to 6.5 hours battery life and an array of software installed.
