Acer has upped the cashback offer on its A110 tablet from £30 to £50, which means that it now carries an effective cost of only £129.98, including delivery, from Ebuyer.
The A110 comes with an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core system-on-chip clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage. There's a 7in 1,024 x 600 display, a front facing full HD webcam, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a 3420mAh battery with a 7.5 hours battery life, HDMI D-type and USB 2.0 ports plus GPS and GLONASS.
As expected, Acer has incorporated Acer Ring, its own user interface, and Google's own Mobile Services (Gmail, Google+, Maps and the like) into the device.
The reason for Acer cutting the price of the tablet probably has much to do with the recent price adjustments made to the Google Nexus 7, which saw the 16GB model being offered for £160 and a new 32GB one going on sale for £199.
The Nexus 7 features a 1,280 x 800 display, which translates to 40 per cent more pixels than the A110. However, the latter has the upper hand when it comes to connectivity.
The fact that you can bump up the Iconia A110's onboard storage to 72GB for under £40 is a very welcome bonus.
