Cheapest Windows 8 laptop available from £260

The Packard Bell TE11 packs a lot of features for a sub-£260 laptop that not only comes with Windows 8 but also 260 Nectar points and a free copy of BullGuard Internet security. The laptop is available from Save-on-laptop via eBay for £259.99.

Unsurprisingly, Packard Bell has chosen an AMD E300 dual-core APU, likely to keep costs low. It is roughly equivalent to a dual Intel Atom processor, which means it will be adequate for office uses. There’s an AMD Radeon HD 6310 video subsystem as well, with 4GB of RAM and 500GB onboard storage.

The rest of the specifications include a 15.6in, 1,366 x 768 pixel LED backlit display, Windows 8, a DVD writer, three USB ports, VGA and HDMI ports, up to four hours battery life, a card reader, an HD webcam, an Ethernet port, a numeric keypad, a multi-gesture touchpad and a one-year warranty.

Packard Bell has included a number of applications in the bundle, including Nero 10 BackItUp Essentials, which is tied to a physical MyBackup key allowing users to back up their content without much hassle.

Altogether, it's a great all-rounder laptop with some solid components and backed by a well-known name (Packard Bell is owned by Acer, after all).
