Samsung GC100 Galaxy Camera goes on preorder for £366, to launch on 8 November

Online retailer Ballicom International has put the Samsung GC100 Galaxy Camera, otherwise known as the EK-GC100ZKABTU, on pre-order for as little as £366 excluding delivery. Samsung confirmed yesterday that the Android-based camera will be available on the market from 8 November.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is a device that has smartphone-like capabilities although it (obviously) omits a fundamental feature, the ability to make calls. The technical specifications show that it is in effect a modified Samsung Galaxy S3 with some added capabilities. It is also both unlocked and 4G capable.

However, the main selling point of the EK-GC100ZKABTU is indisputably its elaborate camera function. It is a 16.3-megapixel device with a 1/2.3in BSI CMOS, a 21x optical zoom and an F2.8, 23mm lens.

Additionally, there’s a quad-core Exynos system-on-chip clocked at 1.4GHz, the same as the Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy Note 2. Other features include a 4.77in 1,280 x 720 HD Super Clear display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a massive 1650mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi and a HDMI connector.
