Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro featuring Windows 8 Pro available from £999

Microsoft hasn’t yet announced how much the Surface Pro will cost, but you can get a similar device from Samsung, the ATIV Smart PC Pro tablet, for as little as £999 via Misco. The device runs on Windows 8 Pro and was launched back in August during IFA 2012 in Germany.

The ATIV Smart PC Pro replaces the previous Windows 7 slate by the same manufacturer, and comes with a whopping five year warranty plus Samsung’s money back guarantee which is valid for 60 days. An optional Clamshell keyboard is also available for sale, costing an additional £94.

The tablet comes with an Intel Core i5-3317UM processor, which is clocked at 1.7GHz and has 3MB L2 cache.

Other features include 64GB flash memory, 4GB DDR4 RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, an 11.6in LED HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display, Intel HD 4000 Graphics, two speakers, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and a rear 5-megapixel snapper, up to eight hours battery life, a SIM card slot, a SD card reader, USB 3.0 & HDMI ports, an S Pen stylus and a thickness of 11.8mm.

Those looking for a more affordable option might want to consider tablets that are based on Intel’s Atom Clovertrail architecture, or those that use an ARM chip but run on Windows RT.
