64GB RIM BlackBerry PlayBook tablet down to £122.55

Until tomorrow night, the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook 64GB tablet is on sale at PC World for just £122.55, after a five per cent discount using the code PCW2 at checkout.

In addition, you can get £10 cashback when you buy a case. Since the cheapest is priced at £9.99, you can essentially get a case for free.

The tablet was launched more than two years ago and was, at the time, a trailblazer, being the first to ship with a dual-core system-on-chip and with two multi-megapixel cameras. But RIM failed to bring the PlayBook to market quickly enough and by the time it went on sale, it was already surpassed by a slew of Android and iOS rivals.

Still, the PlayBook is a very capable tablet if you are not after apps. It runs a dual-core TI OMAP4430 system-on-chip clocked at 1GHz with 1GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 7in 1,024 x 600 display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 3-megapixel front-facing one, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-HDMI and micro-USB ports, GPS and Blackberry Tablet OS.

Given that a 64GB microSD card costs around £30, this makes the PlayBook a very enticing purchase for those looking to carry their media collection around.
