Asus X401A ultra slim laptop from only £300

Meet the Asus X401A, a rather good-looking laptop that comes with a 14in 1,366 x 768 display, priced at only £300 from Amazon.

Other than the fact that it runs on Windows 8 rather than Windows 7 Home Edition, we’re quite impressed by the fact that it embraces a few features found on more expensive Ultrabooks, such as a minimalist design, flat profile, island-style keyboard and large touch pad.

The X401A features a dual core Intel Celeron B830 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive, no optical drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, webcam, Instant-on technology that cuts down the start-up time drastically, SonicMaster Lite audio technology, Altec Lansing speakers, as well as IceCool technology.

The laptop will face some stiff competition from the S400, which is slightly less expensive but comes with less storage too.

Connectivity options include three USB ports, VGA, HDMI, an Ethernet port and a card reader.

Asus claims that the laptop has a battery life of around five hours, thanks to a 6-cell 4400mAh battery.

It comes with a two year warranty, weighs 1.85kg and is 26.5mm thick.
