The Toshiba Satellite C855 is a bog-standard, basic laptop that is available from Argos’ eBay outlet for as little as £270 with free delivery and 270 Nectar points. The device comes with an Intel Pentium B950 processor clocked at 2.1GHz, 6GB of RAM and a 750GB hard disk drive. You will be hard pressed to find a laptop from a known brand with a similar configuration for the same price or less.
The C855, which eschews the current manufacturing trend for producing value laptops that have almost the same physical dimensions as ultrabooks, weighs 2.3kg and is 24mm thick - not super-svelte but not too much of a burden to transport when necessary.
It has a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 display with a DVD writer, shared graphics, a card reader, three USB ports (including a USB 3.0 one) as well as Ethernet and HDMI outputs, a VGA webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium, Wi-Fi, an island-style keyboard and an integrated numeric keypad.
Note that Argos also sells a variant of the C855 laptop called the C850 which comes with a Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM and a 640GB hard drive for £250. Both models have been refurbished by the manufacturer.
