One more 42in TV set available from under £250

This is the sort of deal that usually gets blank looks because the brand is unknown and there’s no way of verifying the quality and after sales services. Meet the Furion FEFS42L1D, a 42in full HD LED television that costs £249.98 at Ebuyer and comes with a two year warranty. £250 is what you’d pay for an entry-level 32in display not so long ago.

At this price, there’s nothing really exceptional to expect out of it. It delivers 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, consumes less than 1W in standby mode, has two 10W speakers, a 500cd/m brightness and a contrast ratio of 1300:1. It has some decent connectivity options (two HDMI ports, a VGA one, one USB, one AV In, one AV out, Composite and RF).

Other noteworthy features include a Freeview tuner (no Freeview HD at this price), SRS Surround Sound, a rather thick bezel coupled with a good-looking stand, PVR capabilities via the USB hub (allowing you to pause, rewind and record Live TV) and a VESA mount.

We strongly suggest that you get the set with the Xenta Mini 8GB multimedia player (the bundle costs £274.46) or a 64GB USB drive which costs around £25 from the same vendor.
