It's out with the old and in with the new iPhone app as Vimeo this week announced the release of a revamped version of its iOS offering.
Vimeo 3.0 is "awesomer, sleeker, more beautiful, way awesomer, and also much more awesomer than ever before," according to the Vimeo mobile team.
On-the-go Vimeo video watching, creating, and sharing is now more simple with an app that has been redesigned specifically to be smarter and more intuitive "so you can do what you want, when you want, really easily," Vimeo said.
With features like Staff Pick or Vimeo Channel, users can entertain themselves anytime, or add videos to the Watch Later queue for something to look forward to. And for those "wish you were here" moments, users can now record video in Vimeo's iOS app, then upload it directly to the web without leaving the application, all while watching other videos.
Additionally, the update makes it possible to share any video via Facebook, Twitter, email, iMessage, or to simply copy the link and share it elsewhere. Other new additions include the ability to quickly search for videos from the entire Vimeo catalogue and discover new titles in the Explore tab, as well as letting users "like" videos and leave comments using their iPhones.
Vimeo 3.0 is available now for free in the Apple iTunes store. For more about the new Vimeo iOS app, watch the video below.
An iPad update is also in the works, according to Vimeo. There was no word on whether Android users will get their own updated app.
In late August, web-based Vimeo announced a new partnership with cloud-based file-storage and synchronisation service Dropbox, allowing users to connect their accounts and upload files to Vimeo directly from Dropbox.
In September, Vimeo introduced two ways to help filmmakers earn money from their movies, including a virtual "tip jar" and the ability to put views behind a paywall.
