Dell Inspiron N5040 1TB Laptop available from £350

Like the Asus K55A, the Dell Inspiron N5040 is equipped with a 1TB hard disk drive but the laptop swaps a more powerful processor, the Intel dual-core Pentium P6200 processor clocked at 2.2GHz for less RAM (4GB) and Windows 7 Home premium rather than Windows 8.

The laptop is available for £350 from Argos and comes pre-loaded with McAfee Security as well as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements. Users can also grab Microsoft Office 2010 home and Student for £70 now and get the next version for free.

Other than a 1TB hard disk drive and 4GB of RAM, it has a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 display, a DVD writer, a webcam, a card reader, three USB ports, e-SATA, an Ethernet port, HDMI plus Bluetooth. Dell says that its battery can last up to five hours and the laptop has a black colour scheme.

Unfortunately while it is cheap and has plenty of storage capacity, it is reasonably heavy (at 3.7Kg) and uncannily thick, at 33.8mm plus part of the 4GB is attributed to graphics.

Argos is also giving away £10 voucher for purchases above £100.
